Collaboration & connection at Let’s Connect!

An industry event providing knowledge and access

Let’s Connect! an industry event designed to support the beauty, arts, and film industries was brought to Vancouver through the collaborative effort of brands Colour Box Makeup Studios and Posh & Harmony.  Supported by a community of sponsors including Merchant EventZ Inc, Michael B Maine, Veil Cosmetics, Bossladi, Sherabo Organics, Moonplay Cosmetics, Know Your Closet Stylist, and Edward Jones.

The aim: to connect those currently working in the beauty, arts, and film industries with students and recent graduates coming into the industries.  Let’s Connect! took place on September 6, 2018 in the private room at Match Eatery & Public House in New Westminster, BC.

The industry mixer allowed the brands involved to showcase their products and services by supporting various aspects of the event. While also accessing a new market, making connections and providing knowledge to those starting out.

Colour Box Makeup Studios and Posh & Harmony

Let’s Connect! featured Kerry Herta, owner of Colour Box Makeup Studios and industry leader of makeup artistry in the film industry.  Kerry shared insights about her career, working as a makeup artist, and the skills required to achieve a high level of success in the film industry.

About Kerry

Based in L.A., Kerry spent 20 years perfecting her award-winning makeup technique.  Over the years she is has been able to successfully adapt her technique to the most current styles and production technology. Today, she is regarded for her mastery of HD makeup.

In 2010, Kerry oversaw All My Children’s transition to the HD format.  She revamped the legendary looks of a well-known cast that included Susan Lucci and, in the process, set a new standard for makeup on daytime television.  In 2011, her work on All My Children earned her a Daytime Emmy nomination.

Mosty recently, Kerry has made the promotional campaigns for FX’s American Horror Story, Lights Out, Nip/Tuck and Rescue Me some of the most talked-about campaigns ever.

She is also a 2016, 2017 and 2018 Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Award winner.

Kerry created Colour Box Makeup Studios in an effort to continue to mentor and train young artists. Kerry firmly believes that working professionals with proven experience are best suited to teach future makeup artists.

Former student of Kerry and now mentee, Sophie Usherwood created EbonyQueen Collection in 2015 a cosmetics line and application service.  Currently, Sophie is working on the re-launch of Posh & Harmony, an eMarketplace celebrating #MelaninMagic with business partner Judi Lewinson.  Posh & Harmony will host over 60 eBoutiques on it’s new site and also include a line of all natural body butters and scrubs that smell amazing, have calming effects, and do wonders for the skin! (Try them at the next Spotlight).

Sophie saw a need to connect with like minded professionals and decided to bring her mentor Kerry, from L.A. to Vancouver.  Providing access to an industry leader while allowing Posh & Harmony to tap into a new audience and make connections.

The film industry, in Vancouver, continues to thrive and grow year on year.  Providing more opportunities to live out passions and work in the creative field.  Access to industry leaders helps bridge the gap between graduating from the arts and sustaining a career in it. When Posh & Harmony presented Merchant EventZ with the opportunity to support such a great event, we jumped at it.

Sponsoring Let’s Connect! allowed us support the arts industry in Vancouver, engage a new audience, build long lasting connections with other brands, and meet various talented artists and creatives entering the community.
